Ride the roads made famous by the Giro d'Italia!  

Bormio, Italy, is an antique town with uncontaminated beauty.  Surrounded by one of the largest protected areas in Italy, nature is displayed on a pedestal, creating an outdoor playground with breathtaking views.  All of our rides will depart from the door of our hotel, leading us on some of the most beautiful climbs in Europe.  Gavia, Stelvio, Mortirolo ... just saying their names brings pure joy.

DAY ONE:  ARRIVAL

​​Details:  Our Cycling Centre team will greet you with a smile and a snack in Milan before transporting to our hotel in Bormio. Home base for the week is Agriturismo Rini with rustic finishes and majestic mountain views, offering a spacious and cozy home away from home.

Peruse the village of Bormio while your bike is assembled by our team, relax on a patio with an Aperol Spritz while engaging in excited conversation with new friends, or unwind in the comforts of the hotel.

Athletes riding from Lecco will enjoy a 154 km route with 2,400 m of elevation (map).

Dinner will be enjoyed in our hotel, known for their authenticity and finesse.  It will surely delight our taste buds.

DAY TWO: PASSO GAVIA

Ride Description:  Today will be an introduction in to the Alps as we focus on climbing one of the famous names of the Giro d'Italia,  the Passo Gavia.    We will begin at a nice relaxing pace to warm-up for our first ride, meandering through villages before the grades increase and we make our way to the top where the protector of cyclists, the Madonna delle Vette (Madona of the peaks) awaits.  After an espresso, we will turn around and descend the beautiful and narrow car-free roads into town or continue 11 km to the next cafe before making our return .  Be prepared for many stops on this stunning route to take pictures!

Details:  Enjoy a massage before departing for our evening meal in to the charming  town of Bormio.  Our group dinner will be at a quaint restaurant offering local flavours and flare.  

DAY THREE: PASSO UMBRAIL AND STELVIO

Ride Description: Prepare yourself for the famous DOUBLE Stelvio!!  This high-level tour with 88 spectacular hairpin bends is a must for the bucket list of every cyclist.   We will start from Bormio and climb the Stelvio, crossing into Switzerland before descending the Umbrail Pass and rolling through the flat roads of the valley back in to Italy.  Once we reach Prad, prepare yourself for the second time up the Stelvio, this time from the backside leading to a memorable 25 km descent through Bormio and back home.
  • 65 km - 2,457 m elevation gain
  • 102 km - 3,200 m elevation gain

DAY FOUR:  MORTIROLO PASS

Ride Description:​  Today starts with 25 km downhill before starting two of the most famous and romantic climbs of the Giro d'Italia.  First the "Pirates Ascent" of the Mortirolo Pass will greet us, and then the epic 30 km climb from Monno to the top of the Gavia Pass offers views that are endless in presenting their rugged beauty.  This is a challenging but extremely rewarding route with views so spectacular you will be forced to take lots of photos!   Once at the top of the Gavia Pass enjoy a sweeping descent all the way back to Bormio.

Details:  Our legs will enjoy a short walk to dinner to flush out some of the lactic acid from today's ride.  Enjoy a glass, or bottle, of local wine as tomorrow is a rest day!

DAY FIVE: LAGO CANCANO

Ride Description:​  Ahhh, today we rest like the pros!  If the Stelvio is King, Cancano is the princess.  This route is part of the medieval trade which transported wine to central Europe in exchange for salt.   As you climb you are surrounded by the mountain pines which lead you to the beautiful views from the Fraele Towers.   Riders looking for a bit more to their ride will descend and head up to Bormio 2000, a 10 km climb of 7-9% ending in the local ski village.  Yes,  this is the route the pros use as their "rest days" while training in Bormio and Livigno.

  • 38 km - 1,035 m elevation gain
  • 60 km - 1,820 m elevation gain ​ ​

Details:  Riders may choose to take the day off the bike completely and explore Bormio on foot.  Shopping, visiting museums, or relaxing in the local hot springs, cold pools, saunas   are just a few options. An afternoon massage is also on the itinerary before having dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY SIX: APRICA LOOP

Ride Description:​​  The strength we gained earlier in the week and yesterday's rest stage will be put to good use today.  Today we venture back to the beauty of the Mortirolo for the week’s Queen stage.  Including the Passo Aprica, we will also climb not one, but two sides of the Mortirolo; unless you choose the shorter route where we will shuttle you past the first side of the Mortirolo to the Pasticcerria Tognolinito begin the ride.   Want more epic?  Continue another 23 km to the summit of the Stelvio before returning to the hotel.
  • 105 km - 2,416 m elevation gain
  • 140 km - 3,800 m elevation gain
  • 186 km - 5,460 m elevation gain

​Details:  Today's ride will be celebrated with dinner at a local restaurant, a short walk from the hotel.

DAY SEVEN: LIVIGNO

Ride Description:  We will make our way into Switzerland today along the route of the Bernina Express which links northern and southern Europe via the highest railway across the Alps.   Starting with a nice gentle down hill to warmup, our climbing legs will be tested once more on the famous climb of the Bernina Pass with it's glacial views. Next will be the Forcola Pass known as "no mans land" to reach Livigno.  Livigno is famous for VAT free shopping and a popular place for the pros to live and train at altitude.

  • 125 km - 2,850 m elevation gain

​Details:  Our team will pack up your bikes after your ride and dinner will be at the hotel as we recount and celebrate our adventures from the week.

DAY EIGHT: DEPARTURE DAY
