This trip is for "Sun Seekers", athletes interested in riding a few hours, having lunch, then lounging or exploring the local town in the afternoons. We seek to meet your perfect balance between time on and off the bike, never in a hurry to be anywhere, meandering is encouraged.

DAY ONE: ARRIVAL
September 2

Details:
Land in Ljubljana, Slovenia on September 2 where you will be greeted by the smiles of our PT Cycling Team in their famous pink jackets. It is a 2 hour scenic drive to Kaštel Motovun, our hotel for the night, in the fortified town of Motovun. We will also assemble bikes then enjoy an aperitif while enjoying the 360 degree views of the Istrian Peninsula, providing a snapshot of where we will be riding this week. Tonight will offer a taste of what is to come and time to get to know your travel mates, or shall we say your new friends for life! |
DAY TWO: MOTOVUN TO RABAC
SEPTEMBER 3

Ride Description:
Today we will roll down hill towards the Kvarner Bay in the Adriatic sea. There are two 5 km climbs on this route, the fist from 5-10 km in averaging 7.5 % and the second 5 km from the finish averaging 4%. The remaining kilometres meander up and down through the middle of the Istrian Peninsula. This is a great ride to start off the week with its quiet roads and fresh forest air before the blue seas present themselves. You can add on a cycling loop or change your cycling shoes for flip flops and rest on the beach, stroll the promenade, or find a cafe to sip on a cocktail or enjoy an ice cream and people watch at our hotel for the next 3 nights, Valamar Sanfior in Rabac.

DAY THREE: Rabac - OPATIJA - Rabac

Ride Description:
We will ride along the coastline and admire the crystal clear blue water, boats, birds, and beach bathers. Enjoy a stop and a walk around the historically charming town of Brseč which will be the turn around point for option 1. Option 2 will continue to Opatija and features a 17 km climb of 5.4% average on the way back. There will be opportunities for coffee and ice cream stops before looping back and stopping in Labin to explore the Francovich and Battiala-Lazzarini Palace, the Sanfior Gate, and the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Birth.

DAY FOUR: RABAC -PULA - RABAC
SEPTEMBER 5

Ride Description:
Today we will ride to Pula, be sure to pack your walking shoes in your ride bag as there will be lots to explore! Founded in the 1st century BC by the Romans there are several ruins, churches, mosaics to visit, for those in to that kind of history, or ride a loop around the Brijuni National Park with a visit to the museum dedicated to the island's history. Should you want a different perspective you can also enjoy a boat ride of the archipelago of the park and stop to visit Tito's impressive car collection.

DAY FIVE: RABAC - CRES
september 6

Ride Description:
We promised a "flat" trip and our way around the steep hill from the ferry in to Cres is to board a Pirate Ship! This fun and unique experience will sail you in to hidden lagoons and the Blue Caves with opportunities to swim and explore. After lunch on the ship your PT Cycling Team will meet you on the island of Cres. Your choice if you walk the plank or not! You may choose to take the day off the bike and book a spa treatment at the hotel in the afternoon, Hotel Kimen will be our home base for the next 2 nights. If you would like the satisfaction of riding the entire Cres island, it is 53 km to the ferry doc and back, then tomorrow do the long option.

DAY SIX: Isle of cres
september 7

Ride Description:
Ride as little or as much as you like today, there is only one road and you can turn around at any point. Veli Lošinj is the end of the road and has some cafes, pizzerias to refuel off the bike, or grab a sandwich from the support van and take a beach side rest. Today's ride will provide a variety of landscapes and different views of the water than what we have been experiencing on the Istrian Peninsula. Enjoy the rolly polly day on the bike or return for some beach, patio, or spa time at the hotel. You are on vacation, enjoy what you want to do!

DAY SEVEN: LJUBLJANA
september 8

Day Description:
We will pack up our bikes and make our way to Ljubljana today. In our pre-trip call we will chat about all of your options today so we can plan ahead. Some options include a stop at the Postojna caves and castle, a winery tour, a boat tour of the Ljubljana canals, or wander around the beautiful and historic Slovenian town keeping your eyes open for all kinds of hidden fun, including bakeries that serve pieces of art! We will enjoy a walking tour to the Strelec Castle where we will finish our trip with a 5 course chef tasting menu and wine pairing. |
DAY EIGHT: DEPARTURE DAY
SEPTEMBER 9
Your suitcase might be a bit heavier than when you arrived with the mementos and awards you picked up in the last nine days - hope you left some space when you packed at the beginning of the trip! Our end destination today is the Ljubljana airport unless you plan to stay in Europe.
